High-Risk Groups

Some high-risk groups already have exceeded the one in three, or 33 percent, local projected rate of developing diabetes. High-risk groups are those among whom diabetes is more common, such as anyone with a family history of diabetes or anyone who has had diabetes while pregnant, also African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders. If you are a member of one or more of these groups, you especially need to act now. Good health habits improve the likelihood that you can live a long and healthy life.
